This report is introduction about the historical farmhouses and townhouses in Ojiya, Niigata Prefecture. These houses were built in the period from the end of the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. The formhouses in this dislrict are know as CHUMON-ZUKURI, that is to say, the stable make a right angle with the main building, (see photo. 1) Generally, the townhouses have gables, and as to outside of the buildings, only the facade are designed, (see photo.2) The list offixed is the documents which are records when the houses were built.
