The purpose of this paper is to develop a reliable method for measuring the slipperiness of each part of a stiarway tread, which would be devided into three parts, namely, the corner of a nosing, the upside of a nosing and the tread surface. In the former study, the originally developed slip resistance tester (O-Y・PSM) is confirmed to be able to measure the actual slip resistance on stiarway tread in case of with no nosings. In this paper, the stairway treads include ones with nosings, projection or the combination of different flooring materials of a tread, is investigated as for slipperiness. The measuring devise is based on the O-Y・PSM. The measuring conditions on each part of a tread are searched by the method of trial and error so as to correlate the values of slip resistance with the actual slipperiness obtained by the sensory tests.
