The analytical method for contact problems of elastic body has been studied by many reserchers. The analytical methods based on Lagrangian multiplier method and the Penalty method for contact problems were developed and established. Various contact problems have been solved using those methods. But there are few studies on the large displacement analytical method for contact problems of'thin continua. The purpose, of this report is to formulate the finite element scheme based on the Penalty method for the contact problems of thin continua. Illustrative examples are shown which confirm the accuracy and the validity of the present method.
