Mechanic and response characteristics of three dimensional reinforced concrete shear walls under the earthquakes are studied through static tests and pseudo dynamic tests performed on the walls in the shapes of a box and a cylinder. In behavior of the walls after the ultimate strength, the box walls shows brittleness while the cylinder walls shows much of toughness. The load-deformation relationship and the principal strain distribution in the 3-D nonlinear FEM analysis agree well with the test results. It is confirmed in the pseudo dynamic tests that wall shapes and input seismic waves have influences on the response behaviors while they have no influence on the equivalent velocities V_E, up to the ultimate strength, which remain almost constant.
