Abstract
Reinforced concrete HP shell water tower should be checked to the current seismic load requirements by the ultimate strength approach. There should be strong soil-coupled effects of top-heavy structure;however, the vibration characteristics of those structures have not been well investigated. In order to provide a linear elastic model beforehand, we have measured micro-tremor to find soil-coupled and base-fixed vibration characteristics of the structure. Moreover, we have measured micro-tremor on the ground surface around the structure and simulated H/V spectra and dispersion curves with the Rayleigh wave fundamental mode to help incorporate proper soil model into soil coupled FEM model.
