Nishinomiya has been known as one of the great sake brewery districts in Japan. The brewery there, however, failed because of the decline of the amount of sake consumption in the last of Syowa period. So, the land for brewery have been converted to a condminium or a large-scale retail store. The Great Hanshin Earthquake, 1995, has accelerated such a land-use change because of brewers' giving up business. This study investigates the acutual situation, understands how it effects on the town, and considers what is needed for the city supported by a domestic industry today.
