STUDY ON SNOW DISPOSAL METHODS USING SNOW MELTING MACHINES DURING HEAVY SNOWFALL

Abstract

The present study investigated the use of snow melting machines by community groups responsible for snow removal during periods of heavy snowfall. Snow melting was carried out using two types of snow melting machines installed at public facilities in the city of Tokamachi, which was hit by heavy snowfall in 2006. Data regarding the efficiency and cost of snow melting was collected and analyzed. The results showed that the use of snow melting machines is efficient and cost effective for snow removal during heavy snowfall.
