Environmental basis of human existence is in danger and getting worse. In order to address urgently to this issue for human being’s survival and prosperity, the sensitivity toward the others produced by human activities, should be cultivated in design education. “Biodiversity-Friendly Architecture” is promising theme to be developed in the context of environmental education.
This paper reports 6 weeks-long graduate school workshop program which challenges by students to design and construct the architectural pieces for animals living in the campus of Tokyo Institute of Technology. It aims to archive the assignment and the achievement of “Biodiversity-Friendly Architecture” workshop, and to clarify its educational effects and prospects.
