We conducted field surveys and interviews about the mountain huts on Mt. Fuji which were built around Showa 30’s (1955-1964). Until then, building materials were transported by horses or human power and the member dimensions of columns and beams were limited. Still, partially though, we confirmed that these stone huts have the same form and construction as the Edo era. Specially, a floor plan with an earthen floor parallel to the mountain trail is the basic form of the stone huts on Mt. Fuji. Plural kinds of tephra are used in the right place for the stone huts.
