This study clarified the actual usage of school buses, etc. when going to and from school due to school integration, and issues related to the operation of school buses, etc., based on questionnaire surveys and interview surveys targeting municipalities in Akita Prefecture, where the number of elementary and junior high school students is declining significantly nationwide. As a result, policy implications for local governments in planning school consolidation in the future were obtained.
