We conducted a survey on renovated residential units that can be used as SOHO, listed on websites of two real estate companies dealing with old rental apartments in Fukuoka City. We determined the renovation status for each floor plan type based on the trend of construction years and usage status of SO and HO, the classification and characteristics of floor plan type assuming SO use, and comparison of floor plans post and pre-renovation. As a result, we found that most were actually used as SOs, and that the number of rooms, facilities, and finishes tended to be simplified during renovations.
