In order to verify the disaster awareness and disaster responses of employees worked at elderly welfare facilities, questionnaire survey was conducted for all staff at 39 facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Based on the results focused on the evacuation for the elderly, especially the physically-challenged individual, the employees expressed anxiety about the shortage of staff when the disasters happened on their night shift. Meanwhile, it is also concerned about the orientation disorder due to dementia for the older plays a negative part when disasters strike. Issues related to the disaster response for those facilities were identified.
