NLTs (Nail Laminated Timbers) reinforced with wood blockings were tested for their in-plane shear properties and to verify the effect of reinforcement. The test results indicated that the in-plane shear properties particularly the ultimate strength and maximum strength of NLT can be improved by installing wood blockings. The effect of reinforcement was governed by the accuracy of the installation works and the size and species of the wood blocking. The load deformation relationship of NLT subjected to in-plane shear was calculated using the test results of the nail joints. The calculated results under estimated the load carrying capacity.
