When a sudden power outage occurs at night, people must rely on emergency power sources or flashlights. In this experiment, emergency lights were placed in 157 rooms across 76 houses, and specific behaviors were evaluated after spending two hours there. In darkness ranging from 0.1 lux to 1 lux, tasks requiring detailed visual work or searching the surroundings became challenging. In some cases, these difficulties were alleviated by proper light placement and diffusion. Additionally, there was a tendency for people to gather closer together in dark environments.
