In mature cities experiencing recent urbanization, human-centric urban planning is more important to create diverse spaces for various urban activities. Strategic implementation of such initiatives requires to understand people’s activities. Thus, this study aims at examining the patterns of people’s stays in Sapporo City, Sendai City, Hiroshima City, and Fukuoka City by using mobile spatial statistics and understanding the characteristics of land use, physical and geographical features, and facility. As a result, the pattern of people’s stay in center area of city is different among cities. In addition, there is the relationship between people’s stay and their area characteristics.
