This study investigates the life cycle CO2 (LCCO2) reduction potential of high-thermal performance curtain walls (CW) made of wood and recycled aluminum for a medium-scale office building. By calculating embodied carbon and operational carbon in detail, the authors demonstrate that optimizing material selection, such as wood and recycled aluminum, and thermal performance can significantly lower the environmental impact of building envelopes. The findings highlight the importance of addressing both manufacturing and operational stages. This integrated approach to CW design provides insights that may contribute to the decarbonization of the built environment.
