Abstract

This study aimed to understand the relationship between nursing care delivery systems and floor plans of patient-room layouts in hospital wards. The results of the survey of five hospital wards are shown below: 1) We have examined and categorized the various nursing care delivery systems currently being implemented. 2) When a nurse-assigned-to-patients system is employed, in cases where patients (beds and rooms) are dispersed in a ward, the nurses cannot attend to them in one area. 3) When a nurse-assigned-to-room system is employed, it becomes difficult for nurses to continue attending to the same patients. The above facts were obtained.
