This study shows how to build the shelter of Dashi, a float. In Edo period, the main event in Tenka-matsuri was a parade of splendid Dashi. In Meiji period, though, people stopped parading Dashi as time went by, and began to decorate them. The shelters are usually 3.6m wide, 5.4m deep, and 9m high. To build them, the method of log scaffolding was adopted, as steel was not common at the moment. This study recodes the interview of Kounosuke Inagaki, who, using the method, had build many shelters of Dashi and Okariya of Mikoshi, and aims to preserve the traditional method.
