Abstract
The mountain slopes in Hokkaido and Tohoku districts have been classified with interpretation of contour lines in the topographical maps of 1/25,000 in scale based on a hypothesis that the Japanese erosional mountain slopes are composed of 3 kinds of fundamental landforms generated by landslip, slope failure and frostaction. Some unexpected and interesting results have been obtained by the investigation. But this research has many problems to resolve.
