Synthesis and Crystal Structure of (4-Hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)(4-methylphenyl)methanone

The title compound, C₁₅H₁₄O₂, was synthesized and the structure was studied by X-ray crystallography. The compound crystallizes in monoclinic crystal class in the space group P2₁/n with cell parameters a = 5.9910(5)Å, b = 13.493(2)Å, c = 14.894(2)Å, β = 95.776(8)° and Z = 4. The structure exhibits intermolecular hydrogen bonds of the type O-H…O.
