Mordenite (MOR) membranes were successfully prepared by seed-assisted hydrothermal treatment onto 10-cm-long tubular mullite supports in fluoride media with precipitated silica as silica source. The effect of various synthetic parameters on pervaporation separation performance of MOR membranes was systematically examined. Under the optimized synthetic condition, the maximum pervaporation separation factor of 4680 for ca. 10 wt. % H2O/EtOH feed solution at 75°C had been obtained with a total permeation flux of 0.66 kg/m2·h. The long-term acid-resistant experiment to 90 wt. % acetic acid environment showed that the selected fluoride-based MOR membrane still possessed a considerable acid stability even after a 77-day treatment.
