This study focuses on soybean, which has recently become an important cash crop in Mozambique as the primary ingredient in feed for the chicken industry. We examined the current situation of rural areas where soybean production is very popular, and two hamlets were selected as study sites. An economic investigation of farms was conducted in 2012 and 2013, and the results indicated the characteristics of the farm households that grew soybean. Then, we identified the differences of performance in soybean production between large-scale and small-scale farm households, such as yield, gross income, tractor services, and labor employment. In addition, some constraints of soybean production and marketing were indicated, and the differences among these constraints between the two hamlets were clarified.
