The aim of this study is to suggest planning direction of eco-village as alternative technology for rural development of Korea. The concept and conditions of eco-village was re-established on the basis of three categories, living environment, production environment and natural environment. Three villages representing a typical rural village of Korea were selected, and were surveyed about their general and environmental conditions. From the study, the basic planning direction for creating an eco-village in rural area of Korea was suggested.
