The Reconstruction Supporters Project was established by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication in 2012 to support revitalization of local communities after the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake of 2011. A questionnaire survey was conducted to residents of Miyakoji area of Tamura City in Fukushima Prefecture to understand their perceptions of the Supporters and the reconstruction process of the community. Results revealed that the majority of respondents knew about the Reconstruction Supporters Project and thought that some activities conducted by the Supporters were effective for the reconstruction and revitalization of the community. Meanwhile, the majority of respondents did not feel that reconstruction had been carried out by bottom-up process.
