In Japan, the death toll from farmwork accidents has remained steadily high over the previous four decades. To reduce the causes of such accidents, it is essential that preventive measures based on an investigation from the perspectives of machinery, the environment, and human are implemented. Accordingly, in this study, we assess the actual state of human-safety measures among the large farm management entities. Our results clarify that the managements are cost conscious with respect to farmwork accidents and reveal that some “agricultural production corporations” have already incorporated within their activities the safety measures practiced in other industries.
