Abstract
Metabolic function of Gluconobacter melanogenus toward sorbitol and related sugar derivatives was examined by using resting cells of the organism. From the results, together with the previous findings obtained by the growing cultures, the overall pathway of sorbitol metabolism in G. melanogenus was proposed as presented in Fig. 2.
