On the basis of chemical and physicochemical analyses, the structure 1-N-[2-O-(3-amino-3-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranosyl) cytosine has been assigned to hikizimycin, a new type of 4-aminoglycosylcytosine-antibiotic, isolated from the culture broth of a Streptomyces.
