Stereoselective Synthesis of ( ± )-( E)-6-Isopropyl-3, 9-dimethyl-5, 8-decadienyl Acetate, the Racemate of the Yellow Scale Pheromone, and Its (Z)-Isomer

Abstract

Both (E)- and (Z)-isomers of (±)-6-isopropyl-3, 9-dimethyl-5, 8-decadienyl acetate were stereoselectively synthesized. The former was shown to be the racemate of the sex pheromone of the yellow scale, Aonidiella citrina.
