Glucosamine adiministered to phlorhizinized rabbits caused them to excrete even more extraglucose than did glucose given as such. The formation of glucose from the aminosugar is therefore beyond doubt. But, as to the mode of conversion, the data furnished no proof either for the desamination hypothesis (Masai and Nakamura) or for Kawabe's assertion.
