The action of intestinal erepsin on the three isomeric glycylaminobenzoic acids was examined and it was found that these aniline peptides are all capable of being hydrolyzed by erepsin, though to a different extent, as m- and p-compounds are more readily split than the ortho-body. The optimum pH for the action on m-aminobenzoic acid peptide lies at pH 7.4, that for paracompound at pH 7.5, and that for the ortho-body at pH 7.8.
