Abstract

We have obtained the information through mathematical examinations of questionnaire and achievement for new students. The questionnaire consists of many questions such as students' attitude of and interests in learning mathematics, and study hours. These results are explanatory variables. The achievement test consists of several mathematical problems on caluculation and proof. These results are response variables. Many contingency tables are composed of each response variables and all explanatory variables. As the results of this study it was found that several response variables had strong dependence on a group of specific explanatory variables, by the use of the statistic AIC discovered by Dr. Akaike recently.
