An Active Scanning Method Using Laser for Image Analysis and Its Application to Detection of Latent Fingerprints

Abstract

An image-processing equipment incorporating a laser-scanning system for image analysis is fabricated to study a fluorescence pattern from a crystal surface. The equipment is applicable to detect faint latent fingerprints which could not be detected by any previous methods. The faint latent fingerprints can be developed by staining with fluorescent dye and irradiating with laser.
