Abstract
In the first portion of this paper, the current status of total and fecal coliforms as indicators for the evaluation of fecal and pathogenic contamination of water was discussed. Afterwards, a comparison of several methods for the determination of those coliforms was presented. The relatively reliable correlation was found in LB-BGLB method and desoxycholate agar method for the determination of total coliforms and in LB-EC method and mFC method for fecal coliforms.
