The Japanese species of the deep-sea crab genus Ethusina Smith, 1884, are revised, and the following eight species are distinguished: E. alcocki Ng and Ho, 2003, E. challengeri (Miers, 1886), E. chenae Ng and Ho, 2003, E. macrospina Ng and Ho, 2003, E. marumurai sp. nov., E. paralongipes Chen, 1993, E. taiwanensis Ng and Ho, 2003, and E. wakataka Komatsu and Komai, 2009. The specimen of E. challengeri from Japanese waters was not available, but two females from the Bay of Bengal were examined and recorded instead. The other species except for two species, E. macrospina and E. wakataka which are in the collections of the National Museum of Nature and Science, Tokyo (NSMT), are based on the specimens preserved in the Nagai Collection of the Wakayama Prefectural Museum of Natural History (WMNH). Ethusina marumurai is described as new to science, and E. macrospina is recorded as new to Japanese waters. The key to the Japanese species is prepared.
