Mie's theory has been applied to colloidal sodium in NaCl. In the course of the calculation, the optical constants of metallic sodium are corrected for the size of the colloidal particles. The contributions of the electric and magnetic partial oscillations to the total extinction (spectra) are analized.A discussion is given by comparing the calculated results with the experimental spectra reported by several authors.
