In continuance of the preceeding report, the detection of the tertiary amines in xylidine fraction was made by the combined use of infrared absorption spectroscopy and liquid-liquid extraction. The results indicated that 2, 3-cyclopentenopyridine could be detected from less basic fraction adjacent to quinoline which was the least basic. This was confirmed by its isolation. The content of 2, 3-cyclopentenopyridine determined by use of infrared absorption spectra was about 7% of the xylidine fraction or about 23% of the tertiary amines.
