The application of the central limit theorem of dependent random variables to the statistics of chain molecules is stressed, and the dispersion is calculated using the cubic lattice model with first order overlaps. The overage chain length thus obtained is 1.26 times that with no consideration of overlapping, which may be compared with 1.8 in the case of the square lattice model with first order overlaps calculated by montroll.(4)
