Abstract

This research aims to consider the status of local people’s awareness for re-introduction projects. There are five places where the re-introduction projects are ongoing in Japan. Comparative analysis of questionnaire surveys was conducted in this research. Followings were found through analysis. Each resident showed positive tendency towards the project. In particular, at Toyooka and Sado, it was clarified that many people had recognized Stork and Ibis as a ‘local symbol’. In Noda and Echizen where the new site of the project, people keep Stork good for the environment. Regarding to a main actor for the project, however, people addressed ‘Nobody’ or ‘City’, but not ‘Resident’ at several site. It is desired that local people’s recognition as a real and concrete ‘symbol’ should be expanded in future in line with the project.
