Abstract

A mixed-method study was used to explore community resilience in post volcanic eruptions recovery in Indonesia. This community was displaced; their settlement was destroyed; yet they rebuilt it. Findings of the survey method indicated that this community had a high level of resilience with the overall mean of IPCR was 4.06. Similarly, the qualitative interview method revealed that this community had a robust community competence, although they had a weak political partnership. They perceived that their resilience was higher than before the eruptions. It was likely that the severe impacts of the eruptions and their collective decision to rebuild their neighborhood had reinforced their resilience.
