Evaluation of the Effect of Different Maintenance Methods and Frequency on Globe Thermometer Accuracy

Abstract

Total 10 globe thermometers had been used for 1 month outdoor and the effect of the maintenance frequency and methods of globe surfaces was investigated. 5 black and white compact globe thermometers whose diameters are 4 mm were used. Maintenance types are (1) wiping with wet cloth every day, (2) wiping with wet cloth once a week, (3) wiping with dry cloth once a week, (4) wiping with wet cloth once two weeks, and (5) no maintenance. It was found that rainfall and wind reduce the dirt on the surface of globe thermometers.
