Abstract

The purpose of this study is to clarify progress of the forest and peat fire countermeasures and identify challenges of fire management in Lukun Village, in Indonesia. After the large-scale fire in 2014, the village advanced the management including establishment of village's fire countermeasure team (MPA) with capacity development and extinguishing equipment and establishing canal blocking. Continuous support of the governments is indispensable for effective fire management.
