Abstract

This study identifies the impact of pandemic on traffic behavior in Portland, especially in relation to bicycles. We found that the pandemic affects health and income, but the effects vary depending on sociodemographic. Fairness is an issue. From the questionnaire survey, there is no significant change in short-distance commuting (15 minutes or less); health is an issue because walking is decreasing in first mile and last mile. The results of the logistic regression analysis revealed the characteristics of Bike Mix practitioners, who use bicycles in combination with other means of transportation such as public transportation. In addition, women were less likely to practice Bike Mix before the Pandemic, and singles and low-income households were less likely to practice Bike Mix after the Pandemic.
