Abstract

In this study, by using text mining analysis of the Twitter posts on a social networking service (SNS) by people who have visited islands, we grasped the attractive factors of islands and the mental landscapes that visitors have. As a result of analyzing the nondesignated islands as targets, (1) Visitors are attracted to the extraordinary nature unique to islands, and enjoy the spiritual satisfaction that comes from enjoying the view and openness of the seaside. (2) Bridged islands are regarded as familiar tourist destinations because of the convenient access to the islands due to the construction of the bridge. (3) For unbridged islands, the imagery of taking a boat to go to the island and the scenery of sightseeing are conceived, and the characteristics of islands can be sensed.
