Abstract

This study was to try to identify how each municipality implements environmental education related to brown bears, based on the results of a questionnaire survey. The results showed that the policy issue of brown bear control was highly ranked in municipalities where brown bears are inhabiting the area. The results of the analysis showed that municipalities where brown bears are inhabited set a high policy agenda of brown bear control. However, in municipalities where brown bears do not inhabit, the importance of policy issues related to brown bears was low. The municipalities that recognized the relationship between brown bears and residents as an issue also had a high percentage of respondents who were engaged in some kind of environmental education related to brown bears. But contents itself is still insufficient.
