Abstract

Background: Evidence for structured post-discharge programs to improve long-term physical function and activities of daily living (ADL) after transcatheter mitral valve edge-to-edge repair is limited.

Methods and Results: In a single-center cohort, patients receiving outpatient guidance at 3 and 6 months (n=34) were compared with those receiving none (n=11). At 1 year, the guidance group had higher SPPB (12 vs. 8, P=0.034), higher Barthel Index (100 vs. 95, P=0.008), and shorter 5-STS time (8.1 vs. 14.5 s, P=0.002).

Conclusions: Guidance was associated with better 1-year function/ADL, but findings are hypothesis-generating.
