Abstract
Nowadays, there are many art projects which aim at regional vitalization in Japan. Most studies of artworks in such projects have been qualitative and abstract analysis with small sample size. Therefore, to clarify how artworks in the projects should be produced, we have surveyed quantitatively and qualitatively numerous artworks in two successful art projects in Japan with the mixed methods research. The result of our analysis shows that cocreation with artists and residents as equals is indispensable to bring out region representation of the artworks for artistry. It can also contribute public projects for regional vitalization.
