Kikuba-saponin which had been obtained as an amorphous powder from the rhizome of Dioscorea septemloba THUNB. was isolated in pure state as stals and found to be a diosgenin glycoside in which one mole of D-glucose is attached to gracillin with a β-linkage.
Kikuba-saponin seemed to be a parent saponin of gracillin.
