Abstract
Reactivities of thiohydroxamic acids (I) and O-methylthiohydroxamic acids (II) with metal ions are studied. It was found that the behaviors of I resemble those of hydroxamic acids rather than II or other reagents including mercapto group. Namely, I react with Fe(III), Ti(IV), UO2(II), VO(II) which show the characteristic color reaction with hydroxamic acid, and furthermore I gave the Fe(III) and Cu(II) salts without any changes of the valencies, differing from II. Some properties of the isolated transition metal salts indicated that these salts have probably the chelate structures.
