Abstract
All six isomers of bis (trifluoromethyl) pyridine were synthesized by the reaction with corresponding pyridine dicarboxylic acid and SF4. The characteristic infrared absorption frequencies of this series of compounds were compared with those of similar compounds and the fact that the symmetrical vibration frequencies of aromatic compounds with two trifluoromethyl groups generally shift to the lower side compared with the compounds with a trifluoromethyl group was found.
