The substance in walnuts of Juglans regia LINN. and J.Sieboldiana MXIM. exhibiting growth inhibition of Trichophyton mentagrophytes has been isolated, and it is confirmed that the active substance is identical with juglone (5-hydroxy-1, 4-naphthoquinone).
